After I read the article, I read some of the responses that people wrote and I have to say I was amazed to see the level of ignorance that was displayed toward this woman for losing this weight.



We all know Monique's fame is linked to her being thick, curvey and confident. We also love her for her ability to tell people that she is sexy and beautiful with or without their approval. This is what prompted me to start Thick Madame and give it the name it has. Monique inspired me and countless others in the movie 'Phat Girlz'. She has alway promoted confidence and pride in oneself.



I ask you, my Girlz will Monique's awesome achievement of a 40 lb weight loss change the way we as thick and curvey women see her? Or will we celebrate her in becoming the best healthy woman she can be?

Why Are You So Angry

Good Afternoon Reader,

Upon doing my research for my business, Thick Madame www.thickmadame.org, I started to see an alarming amount of people who seem to have very angry tones in the responses toward obese people. The tone was so strong that the reader could feel the very emotions from the poster. Some went as far as to use profanity to address a group of people that they, if truth be told never took the time to understand.

This leads me to the reason of my blog. I would love to know why you are so angry with me? I say 'me' because I am a Thick woman, I am a good, Thick woman who goes to work everyday, I pay my taxes like everyone else. I'm hard working, honest, beautiful and smart. I started a web business dedicated to Thick Madames all over the world at www.thickmadame.org. I don't understand how people can darn near hate someone they have never met, let alone pass judgement upon them.

Why does the media and society for that matter have to poke fun at people like me? Why do you have to persecute me just because I do not look like you or the way you feel I should look? Who gave you the right to judge me and hang me to a cross?

Now PLEASE DON'T GET IT TWISTED!!!!!!!! I do not, I repeat I DO NOT NEED your acceptance, permission, your go ahead to be who I am. I am smart, beautiful, lovely, successful , and funny with or without your acceptance and that's Real Talk. You have no Heaven or hell to put me in nor do I have any to put you in. So the whole I'm inferior to you bit, don't work with me. I just want to find out why you hate me so much and you don't even know me. That is what www.thickmadame.org is all about. Helping people to be confident within themselves FIRST and all other opinions come thereafter.

Maybe it's YOU, as a matter of fact I'm sure it's you. You have to be pretty uncomfortable with yourself to put down another, so no one will see your issues. As long as the spotlight is on someone else, it's not on you. So you use other people to be your scrape goat. I'm not mad at you because we all have issues but those issues should and must be dealt with or they will destroy you and everything you touch.

I just want to understand this thing people, what is the issue? Please tell me what is the issue?
